European Inventor Award 2014

16-17 June 2014, Berlin

As one of the most prestigious competitions of its kind, the European Inventor Award each year pays tribute to the creativity of inventors, whose quest for new ideas drives technological progress and economic growth, shapes our society and improves our daily lives. The award not only gives inventors the recognition they deserve, it also encourages future innovation. This year's Berlin edition will feature a prestigious award ceremony and bring together some of the world’s brightest innovators, along with key decision makers in business, politics, media and the sciences, including the German President, Joachim Gauck and  Benoît Battistelli, the President of the European Patent Office

This year the finalist come from Sweden, Austria, Germany, Italy, Belgium, France, UK, Spain and Poland. A complete list of the nominees can be found here.

Against this background, the European Patent Office (EPO) and the European Journalism Centre are pleased to invite 30 media professionals to cover this year’s award ceremony and to attend a press event organised alongside of the European Inventor Award. The press trip will take place in the heart of the European start-up scene in Berlin, on 16 and 17 June 2014.

The programme will include an in-depth information session on how the Intellectual Property Framework supports growth and jobs in Europe, a plenary discussion on ways how to promote innovation to enhance Europe’s competitiveness and a panel debate on the innovation and investment landscape in Germany and Berlin. The agenda will also consist of company visits to some of the most innovative German technological sites, a networking cocktail with this year’s award nominees, successful European industry and national representatives, as well as a seat at the award ceremony. The journalists will also have the exclusive opportunity to attend a press conference with, Benoît Battistelli, President, European Patent Office.
